The Black Lutheran Alumni Scholarship Team / B.L.A.S.T. is proud to announce the awarding of its first Peggy Greer Calloway / Richard J. Ridley, Jr. Trailblazer Award Scholarship to the recent 2022 Concordia Lutheran High School graduates Dontrell Johnson and Mahelat Lee. Dontrell earned the $1,000 dollar scholarship, and Mahelat received the $500 award for their application and essays submitted to B.L.A.S.T. during the spring of the 2021-22 school year. That process and review was finalized this past summer, and they were announced the winners on the federal holiday of Juneteenth - Monday, 20 June 2022. Both Dontrell and Mahelat have been four-year students attending Concordia and have achieved highly in the areas of academics and extracurricular activities while also being recognized as student leaders within the school. Dontrell will be attending Ball State University and pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, while Mahelat has chosen Indiana University – Bloomington and will study Exercise Science. We want to congratulate them on being the inaugural recipients of this scholarship and wish them much success as they embark on their collegiate experience and begin this new phase in their lives!
